RxP Parasite Treatment

A triple acting treatment for saltwater ich and other parasites
• Not some rotten sugar-vinegar concoction that claims to "make ich go dormant"
• Not just a pepper sauce, RxPTM treats multiple stages
• Thin consistency - not a barbecue gravy that pollutes the aquarium
• Highly effective, works better than copper, yet leaves no residual toxic metals after treatment!
• Contains only natural ingredients
• Can be used with most invertebrates (with caution), if you have strong biological filtration, such as a sufficiently sized wet dry filter, and a properly adjusted protein skimmer (the hobbyist much take care since marine parasites are invertebrates – RxP will stress other invertebrates – read all directions below!)
• Contains no copper or carcinogenic dyes
• Can be used with Sharks, Rays and scaleless fish
• Does not cause lateral line disease, like metal based treatments do!
• An 8 oz. bottle will treat a 50 gallon tank for one full treatment (13 days)

Description:
Kent Marine Rx•P is a triple acting treatment for saltwater ich and can be used with most invertebrates with caution. Do not use with lionfish, stonefish, scorpion fish, starfish, sea urchins, medusa worms, sea apples, sea cucumbers or nudibranchs!

Directions:
Important: Adjust skimmer daily for good foam production! Remove carbon. Raise alkalinity to 8 dKH or higher with Superbuffer-dKH. Shake well just prior to each use! Use at the rate of 2 teaspoons (10 ml or 2 capfuls from 8 or 16 oz. container) per 25 gallons (95 liters) of tank capacity every other day. Continue treatment for seven doses (13 days) minimum. See below for precautions. For maximum results, on off days, treat with Poly•Ox, as directed. Use Kent Reef Carbon after completing treatment to remove product and perform a major water change (>20%). As a preventative measure, treat the system for 3 treatments when adding new fish. Important: In reefs, also use Coral-ViteTM and Tech•ITM together with a calcium supplement to strengthen corals! As a dip: Use one capful per gallon of saltwater. Leave fish for 15 minutes or less. Observe and remove fish if rapid breathing or other signs of stress occur.

Considerations for use:
Notice: Use of RxP without a strong biological filter or without strong protein skimming will endanger invertebrates of all types and can even endanger fish! , (preferred biological method is a bio-ball type wet dry filter. (Weak methods include undergravel, Jaubert, and Berlin methods, the hobbyist is cautioned that these methods may not be strong enough to prevent difficulties). Protein skimmer must be adjusted daily for good foam production! High ammonia or nitrite levels and resulting stress may be experienced with weak biological methods. Product is necessarily strong because marine parasites are hardy, and caution by the user is absolutely required! Do not dose your tank and leave. You must observe the animals periodically during the day.

All Systems:
RxP is not recommended for lionfish, stonefish or scorpion fish. Treated fish must be in a reasonably healthy condition for treatment to be effective and for recovery to occur. It is necessary, therefore, to begin treatment at the first sign of infection or even if you suspect infection (i.e. a suspicious spot)! It is recommended that you keep it in stock for immediate use. Skimmer must be adjusted daily for good foam production. The objective of treatment is to have the level of RxP peak immediately when added, then be reduced rapidly by the skimmer (see graphs below). Cloudy water, splotchiness or loss of fish color, excess sliming of corals, tight closing of corals, or corals refusing to reopen within a few hours of addition may indicate overdose due either to poor skimming, poor filtration or overuse. If this happens, use carbon short term and stop use until corrected, do water changes as necessary, or move affected animals. Your reaction to the overdose must be determined by the parameters of your particular system, the severity of the reaction of your animals, and your experience and ability to resolve the problem. RxP is not a dump-it and run type product!

Reefs:
Product can be used with most invertebrates by experienced persons, with caution. Since marine parasites are invertebrates, treating them with this product will stress other invertebrates. Use with invertebrates carries a certain amount of risk, however, we at Kent Marine use it with invertebrates on a regular basis because we know what to look for and we can react if a problem develops. If you have expensive hard corals and particularly mushroom anemones, you may want to remove them prior to use to be absolutely safe. If you are willing to accept some risk and closely watch the tank, you may want to leave them in. Use the product with invertebrates at your own risk. Even if you remove hard corals and mushrooms, you will not need to remove the live rock, soft corals, coralline algae etc. and this will save you a lot of time and effort. We find that most soft corals, gorgonians, and star polyps have very little reaction to the product and generally don’t know it is in the water (You should still observe them closely, though). Hard corals react more and mushroom anemones can do well or get hurt fast unless you watch them very closely. Do not ever use with starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, sea apples, medusa worms, nudibranchs or similar animals, you will probably lose them! (Remember, RxP is strong enough to kill free floating ich!)

Some inverts will show sensitivity to RxP use by closing up, sliming, or reacting in other ways. This reaction may be temporary and may not indicate any damage to the animal, but the aquarist must be experienced enough to judge, and increase skimming or use carbon short term to resolve the sensitivity. If in doubt, remove the affected invert to another system! Animals moved in a timely manner will quickly recover from any sensitivity. Animals most likely to have adverse reactions to the product are stony corals and colonial anemones (mushrooms), but carefully observe all inverts. Reactions will vary due to the condition of the system and the animal, but look for "tight" closing of hard corals. This is indicated by the tissue looking as if it has no thickness or being able to see the skeleton shape which is not normally visible through the tissue. Mushroom anemones can react by expelling their internal parts or beginning to get "slimy" evidencing a "melting" condition, if this happens, remove mushrooms immediately. Use of the product with acropora or other small polyped stony corals is not recommended because it is difficult to determine their condition until it is too late. Prolonged use, indiscriminate use, use on weakened inverts or use without proper skimming or strong biological filtration can cause damage or loss. For this reason, use with inverts is at the risk of the user.

Contents:
Deionized water, natural plant extracts, pepper, stabilized vitamin c, stabilizers.

Precautions:
Caution: Contains pepper, irritates eyes and mucous membranes. Wear goggles for eye protection!. If splashed in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention. Keep out of reach of children! For ornamental fish use only. Not for use on food fish! A strong pepper smell may affect sensitive people. Provide adequate ventilation.

Zoe Marine

Zoe Marine

Kent Zoe is a superior vitamin complex for Marine Fish, Invertebrates, and desirable algae. (Zoe does not contain phosphates as most competing vitamin supplements do, and will not cause unsightly algae growth!) It contains aquaculture grade vitamins, meaning that they are still active after one year in your aquarium! It is unique because it also contains natural minerals from spirulina and kelp sources. Competing products are preserved with glycerin, which is an alcohol and requires 50% concentration to preserve. Zoe is properly preserved, using less than ½% preservatives, yet has a 4 year shelf life with no refrigeration. Just smell the difference!

Directions:
For wonderful results, sprinkle over or soak fish food in Zoe, as appropriate. Brine shrimp are particularly good at absorbing the Zoe overnight in the refrigerator. Add one teaspoon (capful) per 50 gallons tank capacity, directly to the aquarium, up to twice weekly to benefit invertebrates and algae. For caulerpa and calcareous algae success, also use Kent Super Iron Supplement with Manganese.

Considerations for use:
Don’t use too much, Zoe is potent! You may be used to competing products which have lost their potency. Zoe provides bio-available vitamins, amino acids and minerals. It provides nutrition often not available in dry, frozen or even live food sources. Contains high dosages of algae, especially spirulina, which provide natural vitamins and minerals not available from other sources. For maximum results, also add Kent Essential Elements to the aquarium water weekly. For invertebrate success, use Kent KALKWASSER MIX and Coral-Vite. For caulerpa and calcareous algae success, also use Kent Super Iron Supplement with Manganese.

Contents:
L-Ascorbic Acid 2-Sulfate Dipotassium Dihydrate, Vitamin A Propionate, Vitamin A Palmitate, D-Activated animal sterol ( D3), Folic Acid, Choline Chloride, Niacin, d-Pantothenic Acid, Thiamine (B1), Pyridoxine (B6), Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B12, d-Biotin, Tocopheryl Acetate (E), Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (K3) in a base containing Water, Spirulina Algae, Kelp, Ascophyllum Nodosum extract, and preservatives. Guaranteed Analysis (per oz.): Vitamin A 5,000 IU, Water Stabilized Vitamin C 25 mg, Thiamine 25 mg., B12 15mcg., Niacin 15 mg., Pyridoxine 15 mg.

Precautions:
Not for human consumption or fish used for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children! Do not use in natural bodies of water.

Iodine 8oz (250ml)

IO8
Larger picture

Iodine

Kent Marine Super Iodine Supplement provides bio-available iodine to reef inhabitants. Although present in salt mixes, iodine is rapidly used up in the system, and removed through protein skimming, ozone and filtration. Super Iodine Supplement supplies iodine needed for proper growth and health of invertebrates and algae. It contains a safe, stabilized form of iodine which will not destroy system bacteria, as some competing products will. It contains no organic forms of iodine which can pollute the system. Kent Marine Super Iodine Supplement is a proven performer!

Directions:
Add 1 teaspoon (1 capful or 5 ml) per 50 gallons (190 l) every week or 8 drops each day.

Considerations for use:
1) First use an excellent grade of synthetic marine salt (of course Kent Sea Salt is the finest available, but there are some other excellent salts on the market). Some salts are made from evaporated seawater and contain dead plankton and other heavy organics that will foul the water from the beginning. Cheap salt is no bargain! For optimum results, use water prepared by reverse osmosis (particularly in mini-reefs), however dechlorinated tap water will work.

2) Use Kent Marine Aquarium pH BUFFER or Superbuffer-dKH to maintain alkalinity at about 10 dKH (do not allow it to go below 8 and don’t exceed 12). This will provide proper pH stability, and still not cause heavy precipitation of important minerals, such as calcium and strontium.

3) Use Kent Kalkwasser Mix, Concentrated Liquid Calcium, or Turbo-Calcium to supply needed calcium. Use Strontium and Molybdenum or Turbo-Strontium to provide heavy amounts of strontium. Kent Coral-Vite will supply rubidium, lithium, barium and other important minerals as well as essential vitamins to the reef. Coral-Vite, Essential Elements and this product are designed to work together in a reef environment.

4) Use reverse osmosis water for topping off for evaporation.

5) Use this product regularly to maintain proper iodine levels, to replace that which will be used by fish and algae and removed by skimming, ozone, and filtration.

Contents:
Deionized water, iodide salts, stabilizers.

Precautions:
Not for human consumption. For Aquarium/Ornamental fish use only! Not for fish used for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children!

Strontium and Molybdenum 8oz (250ml)

SM8
Larger picture
Strontium and Molybdenum

Strontium & Molybdenum Supplement provides bio-available strontium for lush growth of purple, pink and green calcareous algaes, snails, hard tube worms and clams. Magnesium is added to make up for deficiencies in some of the newer brands of sea salt mixes. Potassium & molybdenum are added to assist the symbiotic algae growing in coral and other invertebrates tissues. Corals will open more and stay attached to their skeletons better, with regular use. Phosphate & nitrate free! Contains no gluconates, EDTA, or other organics to raise DOC levels, as many competing products do. For best results, Use Kent Kalkwasser Mix, or Concentrated Liquid Calcium first.

Directions:
Add one teaspoon (capful or 5 ml) per 50 gallons (190 l) of tank capacity. Adding more than the recommended amount of Strontium & Molybdenum Supplement is generally very safe and can be beneficial in many cases, particularly when you have heavy animal loads. If you decide to increase the dosage, just read the cautions below, and cut back should any adverse reactions be noticed.

Considerations for use:
Excessive usage may result in rapid strontium compound precipitation and deposits which can possibly be destructive to pumps and other sensitive system equipment and can also deplete system alkalinity (although this is unlikely). This can endanger a stable pH, and pH may fall. Caution is therefore advised, and proper buffering via regularly measuring alkalinity (carbonate hardness or KH), and adjusting with Kent Marine Superbuffer-dKH or Kent Marine Marine Aquarium pH Buffer is absolutely necessary. For best results adjust system KH to 10 dKH with Superbuffer-dKH or Marine Aquarium pH Buffer. Use Kent Kalkwasser Mix, Concentrated Liquid Calcium or TURBO CALCIUM to keep proper calcium levels. Use Kent Coral-Vite to add important trace minerals and vitamins for corals!

Contents:
Deionized Water, and strontium, magnesium, potassium and molybdenum salts.

Precautions:
First Aid: If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes. If ingested, drink water. Call a physician immediately! KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!

Ammonia Detox

ADX1
Larger picture

Ammonia Detox

Kent Ammonia Detox is the premier product for ammonia removal for tap or aquarium water! It is much stronger than competing products and is safer too. Some competing products contain toxic formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is more toxic than ammonia, and if too much is used, the results can be disastrous. Ammonia Detox is safe, even when overdosed! It neutralizes ammonia, chlorine and chloramine, instantly preparing tap water for immediate addition to the aquarium. Unlike some similar products, Ammonia Detox is even safe for sensitive hard and soft corals, anemones and other invertebrates, as well as freshwater and marine fish and plants. Use when preparing tap water for new aquariums, making water changes, or adding water to make up for evaporation. Ammonia Detox is safe to use directly in all freshwater and marine aquariums, including coral mini-reefs and also water gardens to neutralize toxic ammonia, as well. If the bacteria bed of an aquarium is accidentally killed by overuse of antibiotics, or other factors, Ammonia Detox will bind toxic ammonia, providing time to relocate the fish and invertebrates or to obtain other filtration media. In cases where too many fish are added too quickly, Ammonia Detox will bind ammonia until the existing bacteria multiply sufficiently to handle the ammonia. Ammonia Detox is also valuable for binding nitrites in fry rearing systems, where filtration cannot be used.

Discus Essential

DTE8
Larger picture

Discus Essential

Color and vigor of fish can be negatively affected by lack of trace minerals. Kent Discus Essential replaces biologically important trace minerals which are used by fish and plants and removed through filtration in discus aquaria. Discus Essential will provide color and vigor without use of dangerous hormones! It contains no detrimental heavy metals, phosphates, nitrates, or silicates.

Directions:
Add one teaspoon (one capful) per 30 gallons of tank capacity every week. Use Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement also, in heavily planted aquaria.

Considerations for use:
If using reverse osmosis, deionized or distilled water, first use Kent R/O Right to replace major and minor elements removed during purification process and create artificial river water. If using tap water, or after making artificial water with R/O Right, use this product, Discus Essential, to restore trace minerals lost due to carbon, resin and other filtration, and absorbed by fish and plants.

This product will not affect alkalinity, pH or water hardness. You must adjust pH separately, and use R/O Right to increase total dissolved solids (i.e. GH), if required. Kent pH STABLE will increase alkalinity (i.e. KH) and help maintain a stable pH.

A word about carbon use - carbon, resin products, and pad filters will remove trace minerals! (Contrary to information many companies claim!) We recommend you use carbon etc. for several days, then remove it. Then, dose the tank with Discus Essential to replace those minerals adsorbed. To conserve carbon, simply reduce your use to the amount necessary to clear the water. Use carbon again when water starts to turn yellow.

New Kent Expert Series Organics Adsorption Resin is a revolutionary soft snow white resin that turns dark brown as it adsorbs organics. Unlike any other filtration medium, it does not remove trace minerals, is regenerable over and over with common table salt, and can be left in the tank continuously!

Contents:
Inorganic mineral salts of aluminum, boron, bromine, calcium, chromium, chlorine, cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, lithium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, potassium, selenium, sodium, strontium, sulfur, vanadium, and zinc in a base containing deionized water and EDTA.

Precautions:
Not for human consumption. For Aquarium/Ornamental fish use only. Not for fish used for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children!

Black Water Expert

Kent Black Water Expert simulates water conditions in natural tropical waters. It encourages spawning and aids the hatching process. Black Water Expert improves color and vigor of fish and reduces stress. Its naturally chelated iron, vitamins and other organic compounds accelerate cell division and stimulate root systems in plants, providing for luxurious green plant growth, yet it does not cause unsightly algae growth. Black Water Expert is similar in composition to rich soil in a bottle. Addition to an aquarium tints the water a light brown or yellow color, creating conditions much like those found in the Amazon region of South America. Kent Black Water Expert is excellent for Discus, Tetras, Angelfish, Barbs, Gouramis and all other soft water fish.

Directions:
Add 1 teaspoon (1 capful or 5 ml) per 10 gallons of tank capacity every week and after every water change. For breeding, or very hard water use 2 teaspoons (2 capfuls or 10 ml) per 10 gallons tank capacity every week. Use small amounts such as 1 teaspoon per 50 gallons of capacity, even in aquariums that you don’t want to tint the water, to aid plant growth.

Considerations for use:
If using reverse osmosis, deionized or distilled water, first use Kent R/O Right to replace major and minor elements removed during purification process and create artificial river water. If using tap water, or after making artificial water with R/O Right, use Discus Essential or Freshwater Essential as appropriate, to restore trace minerals lost due to carbon, resin and other filtration, and absorbed by fish and plants.

Adjust pH separately, and use R/O Right to increase total dissolved solids (i.e. GH), if required. Kent pH STABLE will increase alkalinity (i.e. KH) and help maintain a stable pH. Kent pH CONTROL MINUS or TRUE pH MINUS will lower pH, if needed.

Kent Black Water Expert is strong. It will color the water a yellow or light brownish color. It is recommended that you suspend carbon and resin filtration during use, as they may remove the product. Black Water Expert should be used simultaneously with Freshwater Essential or Discus Essential to provide needed trace minerals periodically.

If your aquarium has live plants, they will benefit greatly from the use of Kent Black Water Expert in addition to Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement which will provide heavy iron and plant specific trace minerals. Plants also require strong lighting of proper spectrum and abundant carbon dioxide in the system. Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement will provide the minerals for lush green plants in established aquariums. In new aquariums or those with few or no fish, plants may need some additional nitrates and phosphates. If so, use a fertilizer in combination with Black Water Expert and Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement, but go very slowly on the fertilizer because overuse of the fertilizer will encourage unwanted algae growth.

Contents:
Deionized water, naturally derived humins and tannins , vitamins B2, B6, B12, pantothenol, biotin, and preservatives.

Precautions:
Not for human consumption. For Aquarium/Ornamental fish use only. Not for fish used for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children!

Plant Supplement 4.35oz (124gr)

FWP4
Larger picture

Plant Supplement

This product provides bio-available iron and other micronutrients for lush fresh water plant growth. Contains no phosphates, nitrates, or other fertilizers to cause unwanted algae growth.

Directions:
Add one to three teaspoons (capfuls) per 30 gallons (or 5 to 15 ml per 120 liters) of tank capacity every week, depending on the amount of plants.

Considerations for use:
Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement provides essential trace minerals for lush growth of freshwater plants. Our goal is to provide Sustained Long-term Results. To this end, Freshwater Plant Supplement contains no fertilizers which tend to encourage unwanted algae growth. The iron used in Freshwater Plant Supplement is iron EDTA. It is as strong or stonger than any plant supplement or fertilizer on the market. It is yellow in color, and is the most expensive iron available. It will take the place of tropical laterite, and is easier to use. Unlike other dark brown irons, it will stay in solution longer and provide sustained iron to plants over a long period of time. Do not be fooled by the lightness of the color and do not overdose your system because of the color. Do not use more than twice the recommended dosage. You may also want to use new Kent Blackwater Expert which will provide superb spawning conditions for your fish, as well as spuring plant growth!

Plants also require strong lighting of proper spectrum and abundant carbon dioxide in the system. If you are planning a heavily planted tank, you may want to invest in a CO2 system. Metal Halide lights are excellent plant lights if you are really serious about a beautiful plant tank. In new aquariums or those with few or no fish, plants may need some additional nitrates and phosphates. If so, use a fertilizer in combination with Freshwater Plant Supplement, but be careful, as you can easily have an algae farm!

Freshwater Plant Supplement can be used simultaneously with all Kent freshwater products including Freshwater Trace Elements, Discus Trace Elements or A F Cichlid Rift Lake Trace Elements.

Contents:
Deionized water, iron (chelated with EDTA), salts of potassium, boron, manganese, magnesium, copper, cobalt, zinc, and molybdenum, and inorganic stabilizers.

Precautions:
Not for human consumption. For Aquarium/Ornamental fish use only. Not for fish used for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children!

Pro Plant 4.35oz (124gr)

PRP4

Pro Plant

Add one to three teaspoons of Pro•Plant (1 tsp = 1 capful or 5 ml) per 30 gallons (120 liters) of tank capacity one to three times per week, depending on the amount of plants and the desired growth rate. Be sure to use Kent® Freshwater Plant Supplement with Iron simultaneously with this product, in equal amounts.

Considerations for use:
First use Kent® Freshwater Plant Supplement which provides iron and other essential trace minerals for lush greening of freshwater plants. Then use this product, Pro•Plant with Pro•Gro plant growth accelerator to spur rapid plant growth. Both products are phosphate free so that they do not cause unwanted algae growth!

Kent Blackwater Expert will provide rich humins, much like rich soil that you put around your tomatoes. The rich nutrients in Blackwater Expert will accelerate cell division and stimulate root systems.

Plants also require strong lighting of proper spectrum and abundant carbon dioxide in the system. If you are planning a heavily planted tank, you may want to invest in a CO2 system. Do not use more than twice the recommended dosage.

The use of Kent® Freshwater Plant Supplement simultaneously with the Pro•Plant will provide all of the nutrients that freshwater plants need for vigorous growth and healthy leaves and roots. No laterite is required!

Pro•Plant and Freshwater Plant Supplement should be used simultaneously with Freshwater Essential, Discus Essential or A F Cichlid Rift Lake Trace Elements for a synergistic effect.

Contents:
Deionized water, Sodium Nitrate, Magnesium Sulfate, Boric Acid , humic acid, kelp extract.

Garlic Xtreme

Garlic Xtreme contains a powerful source of garlic that can serve many purposes in aquariums.  Used as a food soak, Garlic Xtreme is a strong attractant, enticing finicky eaters to begin feeding sooner.  Additionally, Garlic Xtreme may be used directly in aquarium if fish are not eating.  Garlic Xtreme contains no artificial ingredients or steroids, and does not need to be refrigerated!

Directions:
Add 2 drops Garlic Xtreme per teaspoon of fish food each time you feed.  Do not feed more than can be eaten in a five minute period.  Use particularly if parasites are present or fish have visible wounds or infections.  If fish are not eating, Garlic Xtreme may be also added to the aquarium at the rate of 1 drop per 10 gallons.

Considerations for use:
Kent Garlic Xtreme is an all natural food additive for all ornamental fishes.  It is a natural attractant for fish and will help cause finicky eaters to take food.  Garlic is safe for all species of marine and freshwater fishes and plants, live corals, and other invertebrates. Because Garlic Xtreme is very strong and fish are extremely sensitive to chemical cues and scents in the water, it's not recommended that you exceed 2 drops per feeding, or fish may become confused. For optimal nutrition, feed your fish Kent Platinum foods with Zoecon technology.  Kent foods combine high-quality marine sources of protein with essential vitamins and minerals, and contain no hormones, steroids, or artificial color enhancers.

Active Ingredients:
99% Allium Sativum Extract (Garlic Juice), Citric Acid and Ascorbic Acid (as preservatives).

Precautions:
Not for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children!

Liquid Calcium 8oz

LC8
Larger picture

Liquid Calcium

Concentrated Liquid Calcium provides bio-available calcium for lush growth of purple, pink and green calcareous algaes, snails, hard tube worms and clams. Corals will open more and stay attached to their skeletons better, with regular use. Phosphate & nitrate free! Contains no gluconates, EDTA, or other organics to raise DOC levels, as many competing products do. Concentrated Liquid Calcium alone can provide all the calcium your reef will need, but for maximum results, use Kent Kalkwasser Mix first, then raise calcium level with this product. Strontium addition via use of Kent Marine Strontium & Molybdenum Supplement is absolutely necessary. Use of Coral•Vite, and Essential Elements are beneficial, as well.

Directions:
Add ¼ to 1 teaspoon (1/4 to 1 capful or 1.25 to 5 ml) per 50 gallons (190 l) of tank capacity each day, based on animal load. Since animals use calcium, and gallons do not, regular testing of calcium level by a good calcium test kit (HachTM brand is recommended) is advised. Adjust amount of addition of the product to achieve a calcium level of about 400 mg/l. A higher level may result in rapid calcium compound precipitation and deposits which can possibly be destructive to pumps and other sensitive system equipment. It is recommended that you regularly check impellers and other delicate equipment for calcium deposits if you run higher (above 400 mg/l) system calcium levels! For best results adjust system KH to 8 to 10 dKH with Superbuffer-dKH or Marine Aquarium pH•Buffer.

Calcium Testing Suggestion:
Calcium testing in marine systems is fraught with difficulties. Test kits generally don’t work well in the ranges that we run in reefs and many ions in marine water interfere with the kit. If your calcium level does not make sense, try diluting the aquarium water sample 50/50 with distilled, deionized or R/O water and testing. Multiply the result by 2. This will both save on valuable reagents in your kit and generally give a more accurate reading. (You may want to consult with the kit manufacturer to determine that doing this will give valid results with your brand of kit).

Contents:
Deionized water, calcium chloride

Essential Elements 8oz

EE8
Larger picture
Essential Elements

Kent Marine Essential Elements replaces biologically important trace minerals which are removed by marine fish and invertebrates, and removed through protein skimming, ozone, and especially carbon filtration. Designed for fish only and reef systems. Essential Elements is unmatched in its ability to increase vigor and color! Does not contain detrimental heavy metals, phosphates, nitrates, or silicates. Does not promote undesirable algae growth.

Directions:
Add 1 teaspoon (1 capful or 5 ml) per 50 gallons every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the amount of water changes done. Also add immediately after carbon use. Do not dose with Kalkwasser, add directly to tank or sump.

The amount of Essential Elements needed depends on the amount of water changed regularly. If you do frequent water changes, then add Essential Elements every 2 weeks. If you do not, then add weekly.

2) Use Kent Marine Aquarium pH•BUFFER or Superbuffer-dKH to maintain alkalinity at about 10 dKH (do not allow it to go below 8 and don’t exceed 12). This will provide proper pH stability, and still not cause heavy precipitation of important minerals, such as calcium and strontium.

3) For mini-reefs, the amount of calcium, strontium and iodine are not sufficient to supply their heavy use by living corals and other invertebrates. Use Kent Kalkwasser Mix, Concentrated Liquid Calcium, or Turbo-Calcium to supply needed calcium. Use Strontium and Molybdenum or Turbo-Strontium to provide heavy amounts of strontium. Kent Coral-Vite will supply rubidium, lithium, barium and other important minerals as well as essential vitamins to the reef. Coral-Vite and Essential Elements are designed to work together in a reef environment.

4) Use reverse osmosis water for topping off for evaporation.

5) Use this product regularly to maintain trace mineral levels which will be used by fish and algae and removed by carbon, resin, and pad filtration.

Contents:
Inorganic mineral salts of aluminum, boron, bromine, calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, lithium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, potassium, selenium, sulfur, strontium, tin, vanadium, and zinc in a base containing deionized water and EDTA.

Phytoplex 8oz

PPX8
Larger picture

Phytoplex

Kent Phytoplex is a highly concentrated complex of aqua cultured, naturally occurring marine phytoplankton  •  It contains Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis and Isochrysis sp. Tahitian ranging in size from 2 to 15 microns  •  Phytoplex provides necessary proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids for live hard & soft corals, tube worms, clams and other invertebrates  •  It is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA and is useful in feeding rotifers and other plankton and in raising larval fish.  Phytoplex is grown in cold saltwater under laboratory conditions.  It contains over 3 billion cells per capful and is typically about 15 times as concentrated as competing live cultures, meaning that one 8 oz. bottle of Phytoplex has more phytoplankton cells than 1 gallon of the competition.  It is free of viruses, toxins and heavy metals which can be a problem when using live algae cultures, cultured in outdoor ponds.  Phytoplex contains Nannochloropsis, a small green flagellate and Tetraselmis, a large green flagellate both containing high EPA lipid levels as well as high protein contents.  It also contains Tahitian Isochrysis, a small yellow flagellate which is rich in protein, carbohydrates and DHA lipids.  Phytoplex is very useful in SPS and soft coral propagation as well as overall reef maintenance.

Directions:
Shake well immediately before use, Important:  Invertebrate foods should be used sparingly in a marine aquarium, to prevent loss of water quality!  Add 1 to 2 teaspoons per 50 gallons (1 capful from 8 or 16 oz. bottle, or 5 ml = 1 teaspoon) in an area of high water flow.  Feed daily or several times weekly, depending on animal load.    (Tip: Nitrite testing will warn of overdosing.) Target Method:  Individual animals may be targeted with this product and this is the most efficient method.  It also causes less pollution in the aquarium.  To do this, purchase a plastic syringe at any drug store.  Fill the syringe with Kent Phytoplex and dispense, as necessary where the product will flow over the animal.  Do not touch the animal with the syringe.  Do not contaminate this product with aquarium water by inserting syringe into this container!

Considerations for use:
For SPS or soft coral propagation, Kent Phytoplex can be used daily.  For best results, use Coral Accel simultaneously.   Keep a close watch on water quality and do not overfeed!  Feed Micro•Vert once weekly in lieu of Coral Accel on that day.   Continue your normal regimen of Kent® Kalkwasser, Tech CB and Coral-Vite.  Kent Marine Essential Elements should be used simultaneously to replace those minerals lost to protein skimming and carbon or resin filtration.  Tech•I Iodine will provide excellent results.  Live corals require strong lighting, with proper spectrum and strong water movement in a well established aquarium.  Regular water changes with Kent Sea Salt are encouraged.  Use Kent Marine Superbuffer-dKH or new Pro•Buffer dKH to control alkalinity,  prevent pH swings, and encourage deposition of new coral structure.

Active Ingredients:
Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis and Isochrysis sp. Tahitian.  (All aqua cultured, naturally occurring marine phytoplankton.)

Chromaplex

ChromaPlex is a unique blend of aquacultured, naturally-occurring phytoplankton • Particles range in size from 5 to 25 microns, providing a broad range for filter-feeding marine invertebrates • Contains essential amino and fatty acids, fiber, and high levels of carotenoids • Carotenoids have been shown to increase coloration intensity of blue, green, orange, yellow, and red pigments in tissues of filter-feeding marine invertebrates • May also be used to supplement and fortify live foods such as rotifers, daphnia, and brine shrimp, as well as larval fishes and invertebrates • Contains no yeast or sugars!

Directions:
Shake well immediately prior to use! Add 1 to 2 teaspoons (5 to 10 ml, or 1 to 2 capfuls) per 50 gallons aquarium water in an area of high water flow, or by target feeding (recommended). Feed several times weekly, depending on animal load. For best results, see Use and Interaction section on opposite sidebar.

Considerations for use:
ChromaPlex contains a proprietary blend of phytoplankton which are aquacultured under precisely-controlled conditions to produce high quality and consistency. The unique blend of compounds provided by phytoplankton enables filter feeders to better utilize amino and fatty acids, making them more bioavailable to the organisms and increasing metabolism efficiency, enabling animals to grow more quickly with the nutrients at hand. The constituent algae have been shown to have characteristics which enhance immune systems and protect sensitive tissue from the harmful effects of exposure to ultraviolet radiation.  Kent Marine ChromaPlex is intended for use with all types of filter feeding marine invertebrates.  For best results, alternate use with Kent PhytoPlex, Micro•Vert, and Coral•Accel, to provide a full-range of nutrients for rapid tissue growth and animal health. Studies have shown that a diet high in carotenoids intensifies the coloration and pigmentation of target specimens, which may help protect sensitive tissues from harmful UV light and improve the animals’ overall health.  As when feeding any food product, pay close attention to water quality and do not overfeed.  Because the majority of filter feeding target organisms are at least partially light-dependant, it’s important to illuminate them with powerful lighting of the correct spectral composition and maintain water parameters within recommended ranges for best results with any product.  Perform regular water changes and use a good protein skimmer.

ZooPlex

The first aquarium product of its’ kind, ZooPlex is a suspension of whole bio-engineered marine zooplankton raised in a remote area of the world • Animal size is approximately 800 microns, ideal for filter-feeding marine invertebrates as well as planktivorous fish • Provides incredibly high concentrations of  Omega-3 fatty acids and carotenoid pigments • Contains essential amino acids, fiber, and high levels of color-enhancing compounds • Surpasses brine shrimp nauplii in nutritional profile; may be used as a complete brine shrimp nauplii replacement • Contains no yeast or sugars!

Directions:
Shake well immediately prior to use! Add 1 to 2 teaspoons (5 to 10 ml, or 1 to 2 capfuls) per 50 gallons aquarium water in an area of high water flow, or by target feeding. Feed several times weekly, depending on animal load. For best results, see Use and Interaction section on opposite sidebar.

Considerations for use:
Never before have reef aquarium hobbyists been presented with such a break through in the nutrition of filter feeding invertebrates, planktivorous fishes, and fish and invertebrate larvae. Omega-3 fatty acids and carotenoid pigments have been shown to greatly increase immune efficiency, growth rate, and coloration of aquatic animals. The species of zooplankton used in ZooPlex is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, biological pigments, and protein.  ZooPlex provides reef hobbyists with a natural zooplankton food source, one that is readily accepted by all types of LPS, SPS, and soft (leather) corals, as well as polyps, clams and other bivalves, and many species of marine fish (from gobies to juvenile angelfish and butterflyfish).  Kent Marine ZooPlex is intended for use with all types of filter feeding marine invertebrates, as well as planktivorous fishes.  For best results with invertebrates, alternate use with Kent PhytoPlex,  ChromaPlex, Coral-Accel, and Micro•Vert to provide a full-range of nutrients. Studies have shown that most ornamental marine organisms have a wide-ranging diet in the wild, which provides essential nutrients for a naturally long and healthy life. It is therefore all the more important to provide captive marine organisms with a varied diet, rather than feeding the same type of food day after day; in this manner, natural feeding habits and nutritive needs are provided for in an aquarium environment. As when feeding any food product, pay close attention to water quality and do not overfeed.

ZooPlex contains a species of zooplankton that is harvested in a remote region of the world.

Micro-Vert Invert Food

Kent Micro Vert contains a nutritionally balanced diet for corals, sponges, anemones, gorgonians, feather dusters, clams and other fine filter feeders. It is rich in vitamins and natural minerals from spirulina and kelp. Other products have not been properly preserved and smelled rotten, or were preserved with harsh, non food grade chemicals that smell like medicated mouthwash. Who wants to put these products into their expensive and sensitive marine aquarium? Kent Micro•Vert is properly preserved, with preservatives reserved for human food use. It has a long shelf life without refrigeration and will provide superior results, just smell the difference!

Directions:
Shake well immediately before use, Important: Invertebrate foods should be used sparingly in a marine aquarium, to prevent loss of water quality! Add 1 to 3 drops per gallon of aquarium water, up to 3 times a week (this is equal to 1/2 to 1-1/2 teaspoons or capfuls in a 55 gallon aquarium) (Tip: Nitrite testing will warn of overdosing.) Target Method: Individual animals may be targeted with this product and this is the most efficient method. It also causes less pollution in the aquarium. To do this, purchase a plastic syringe at any drug store. Fill the syringe with Kent Micro Vert Invertebrate food and dispense, as necessary where the product will flow over the animal. Do not touch the animal with the syringe. Do not contaminate this product with aquarium water by inserting syringe into this container!

Considerations for use:
At a minimum supply additional calcium through Kent Marine Kalkwasser Mix, Liquid Calcium or Turbo-Calcium and use Strontium & Molybdenum Supplement. Kent Marine Essential Elements and Coral-Vite will greatly enhance the keeping of marine invertebrates. If large numbers of invertebrates are kept, also use Kent Tech•I to supply additional iodine. Live corals require strong lighting, with proper spectrum and immaculately clean systems. Regular water changes are encouraged. Use Kent Marine Superbuffer-dKH to control alkalinity and prevent pH swings.
